Whoever lengthens his prayer is guaranteed that his prayer will not be turned away empty.

Brachot 32

No one will voluntarily lengthen any activity that they don't enjoy.

In this maxim, the sages take a page from behavioral psychology: if action A causes result B, then [artificially] doing B will result in a stronger affinity for A. Translated: If you find that your prayers are not providing you with your desired results, then make more of an effort to pray, both qualitatively and quantitively.

You will find that your prayers have risen to a higher dimension, and this is exactly an additional content that your prayers will have, and that is worth striving for.
