Make Room for Goodness
Thoughts and Prayers from Jerusalem
Shalom from Jerusalem!
After Rabbi Rabi finished his prayers, he said: “May it be Your will, God, that you save us from brazen faced people and brazenness itself, from bad people and bad occurrences, from bad inclinations and bad companions, from bad neighbors and from destructive forces, from hard judgments and rivals, whatever nation they may be from.”
Brachot 16
While focusing on the positive is basic to having a positive day, every so often we must focus on clearing the negative.
As the Psalmist says, (34, 15): Stay away from evil and do good. In other words, before we can do good, we must stay away from evil. Rabbi Rabi reminds us daily to check that our "coast is clear" before we set out to do good.
Today, thank God for all of the things that could have happened, but didn't.
