Thoughts and Prayers from Jerusalem
Shalom from Jerusalem!
"...And I will make them happy in the house of My prayer" (Isaiah 56) Notice that it doesn't say "the house of their prayer," but "the house of My prayer." From here we understand that God himself prays.

And what is God's prayer? Rabbi Zutra bar Tuvia said in the name of Rav: "May it be My will that My mercy conquer My anger, that My mercy overshadow My attributes, that I behave toward My children with the a tribute of mercy, and that, for their benefit, I go beyond the boundaries of judgment."

Brachot 7

In Hebrew, the phrase "beit tefilati" can be translated both as "my house of prayer" and as "the house of my prayer." While the simple reading of this verse suggests that it is God's house, our sages recognized the alternate reading as well.

But the term "My prayer" can also be understood as "the prayer to Me," thereby negating the sages' teaching!

We might answer that this innovative reading addresses a basic human trait: everyone wants to follow a leader. And what better leader is there than God Himself? By considering God's prayer, we immediately consider our own behavior, and hopefully adjust it accordingly.

Today, follow God's lead - Pray.
